My mom sent me 2 packs of achuete or atchwete. Actually, I insisted and asked her to buy me this ingredient so that I can try cooking my own version of a Filipino delicacy called Kare-Kare.
I asked my mom the steps to make Kare-Kare and it’s a good thing a I have a good memory. Well, not that good memory. up to the last minute before cooking the dish, I was still calling her and asking her the stuff about the procedure.
Well, I think my Kare-Kare turned out well. It tasted like Kare-Kare and it certainly looked and smelled like Kare-Kare. Here is a picture of it:
You see!!! It realy does look like Kare-Kare. Doms surely liked it. One negative thing about it the beef and the ox tail wasn’t that tender yet.
Oh well, there’s always a next time. I still have 1and a half packs of achuete!
